Walking the Way of Jesus

Apr 1, 2026    Chip Edens

Last Sunday, we stood with palms in our hands, remembering Jesus Christ entering Jerusalem. But Holy Week is more than a memory. It is a way of life we are invited to walk.

The Christian life is about learning the Way of Jesus. We learn it in many ways, through worship, scripture, prayer, and service. But one of the most powerful ways is by walking through what Jesus himself walked. Holy Week becomes our teacher.

On Maundy Thursday, we gather at the altar. Here we learn that the way of Jesus is the way of humble love. We reenact the washing of the disciples’ feet as one of his last acts.  He kneels, washes feet, and shares bread and wine. We learn love is not about power or recognition, but about serving others, even when it is costly.

On Good Friday, we come and consider the cross. Here we learn that the way of Jesus is the way of sacrificial love. He does not turn away from suffering, but enters into it. We are invited to consider our own lives and trust that God is present even there.

And then comes Easter. Here we learn that the way of Jesus is the way of new life. Not by avoiding death, but by moving through it. God brings life out of what seemed lost, hope out of what felt final.

As we walk this way, we begin to learn God’s way. And as we learn it, we begin to live it – in how we love, how we trust, and how we show up each day.

This Holy Week I invite you to take this journey. In our services you will feel and experience the holy.

Come on Maundy Thursday.

Come on Good Friday.

Come on Easter.

Let us walk the way of Jesus… and as we do, we will gain new insights into the person we call “Lord” and “Savior” and how he calls us to walk his way in our daily lives.

In Christ,

Chip
